Frequently asked questions

Cash offer

How does the cash offer process work?

Simply submit your car details and photos through our quick form. We present your vehicle to our network of verified dealers and buyers, who then compete to make you the best offer. You choose whether to accept.

What's the difference between a Caroo cash offer and an instant offer?

A Caroo cash offer takes around 48 hours and can get you a better price by making dealers compete for your car. An instant offer is about getting you a quick offer. It often isn't the best price you can get.

How is the offer price determined?

Offers are based on your car's make, model, year, condition, kilometres, and current market demand. As multiple buyers are competing for your vehicle, you're more likely to receive a fair, market-driven price.

Who buys my car?

Your vehicle is presented to a wide network of dealers. The successful dealer will buy the vehicle directly from you.

Is the offer subject to a final inspection?

Yes. The seller takes the car to the dealership for a final inspection before the offer is finalised. Alternatively, the dealer and seller can arrange the inspection between themselves. If the condition is not as expected, the dealer could adjust their price. Accepting the final offer is your decision.

How do I hand the car over once I accept an offer?

Once you accept, we connect you with the dealer. The seller typically takes the car to the dealership for the final inspection and handover. Alternatively, you and the dealer can arrange a pickup or meeting point between yourselves.

How long does it take to get paid?

Most sellers receive offers within 48 hours of submitting their car. Once you accept an offer and pass the final inspection, payment is typically processed on the same day.

Does it cost anything to get a cash offer?

Submitting, receiving offers and selling your car is free.

What types of cars are eligible for cash offers?

We accept cars from all makes and models, with no more than 150,000 kms.

Can I reject an offer?

Absolutely. You're under no obligation to accept any offer. If the price doesn't meet your expectations, you can simply decline and explore more lengthy & difficult options.

Submitting your car

Why are you asking for so many details about my car's condition?

The condition information helps us produce a more accurate cash offer estimate and lets dealers make stronger, more confident offers without needing to inspect the car first.

What do the condition grades (Excellent / Good / Average / Poor) mean?

Excellent: close to new, no visible wear. Good: normal use, minor wear only. Average: visible damage or noticeable wear. Poor: significant damage or heavy wear that will need repair. When in doubt, pick the lower grade - an honest description avoids problems later.

What do the mechanical condition grades mean?

Good means the car drives well with no known issues. Average means it runs but has minor mechanical problems you're aware of. Poor means significant mechanical issues or it doesn't drive properly. When in doubt, pick the lower grade.

What does the components question mean?

It's asking whether everything in the car (aircon, electrics, windows, infotainment, sensors, etc.) is in place and working. Pick All in place / fully working if everything works as expected. Pick Some missing / not working if anything is broken, missing, or not functioning, even small things like a stuck window or a faulty sensor.

How should I answer the dash lights question?

Say Yes if any warning lights (check engine, ABS, airbag, etc.) are currently showing on the dashboard. If they are, mention what they are in the additional comments so there are no surprises later.

When should I select Yes for tyres needing replacement?

Select Yes if any of the tyres are at or near the legal tread limit and would need replacing soon. If you're unsure, a quick check at a tyre shop or service centre will confirm it.

What should I put in "Additional comments"?

Anything worth knowing about the car. This may include accident history, recent repairs, known issues, modifications, aftermarket parts, or anything unusual. The more honest detail you give, the smoother the rest of the process.

How many photos do I need?

At least 4 exterior and 4 interior photos. Mechanical and document photos are optional, but cars with good photos consistently do better. Aim to capture photos of your vehicle's exterior and interior, dashboard with odometer visible, and close ups of any damage.

How many photos can I upload?

Up to 20. The first photo becomes your cover photo. You can drag photos to reorder them.

Can I take the photos on my phone if I'm filling out the form on my computer?

Yes, on the photos step there's an option to continue on your phone by scanning a QR code. Scan it, upload from your phone, and the photos appear in your draft automatically.

What format should I enter the rego expiry date in?

Month and year (MM/YYYY). For example: 08/2026.

What if my car is unregistered?

That's fine, just select "Unregistered" when asked. An unregistered car is usually worth less than the same car on the road, so it is worth being upfront about it.

Can I edit my submission after I've submitted it?

Not directly, but reply to the confirmation email and we'll update it for you, or start a new submission if details have changed significantly.

What if my car is still under finance?

You can still get a cash offer. Just select "Yes" when asked. If you accept an offer, the dealer will work with you to pay out the remaining finance before the sale is completed.

Is the cash offer estimate guaranteed?

No, it's a range based on recent market data. Actual dealer offers may be higher or lower, and all offers are subject to a final inspection.

What happens after I submit?

We send your listing to our dealer network the following morning (business days) after your submission, and dealers have 2 days to submit their best offers. We will email you first thing in the morning after the offer window has closed, and then you will have 2 days to accept or reject the offers.

Will my contact details be shared with dealers?

No. Dealers only see your car's details and photos. We only connect you with a dealer after you accept their offer.
